The first ever Somaliland Investment Forum-Hargeisa (SIF Hargeisa) was hosted by Shuraako, a program of the One Earth Future Foundation (OEF), in partnership with the Somaliland Ministry of Trade & Investment September 19 – 21, 2016.
Shuraako, with Dahabshil Bank International and the Arsenault Family Foundation, have teamed up to create the Powering Progress Fund to give micro, small, and medium enterprises that are using renewable energy technology uncluttered access to financing.
Shuraako's work and recent Somali Diaspora Investment Survey were recently featured on Voice of America (VOA) Somali. Director Lee Sorensen and Country Director for Somaliland, Abdikarim Gole, talked about the challenges Somali businesses face, and the importance of a reliable electricity supply.
